British Lingo dictionary

So you've learned proper English back home in school and moved to London to live and work here. By now you think you have a fairly good command of the English language to get through life in London? Think again.

If you want to be really cool, you should be able to master the vocabulary you don't learn at school and won't find in a dictionary, the language you hear in movies, the slang of the street, in short: British lingo.

Ever wondered what colloqualisms like 'dodgy', 'tacky', 'cheeky', 'iffy' or 'sketchy' really mean? You might find some answers among the 150 terms in our "Dictionary of British Lingo":

Everyday Life Lingo

Work Life Lingo

Love Life Lingo

For more extensive Brit lingo dictionaries, go to Glossary of British Terms & Lingo, London Slang or A dictionary of slang.
