Past and Current Contributors to Euronet London

The Board of Euronet London would like to extend their gratitude to former long-time board members Ryan Powell (see below), Chris MacNeil (see below), Funmi Tomisin (see below), Kirsten Meyer-Witting and Erwin Spolders for their outstanding contribution to launching Euronet London and for helping to develop it into the successful organisation it is today. They contributed significantly to defining strategy, developing our unique mix of social and cultural events and attracting such a huge membership base.

Special thanks also go to Aki Partanen, Beverley Campbell, Emily Pflanz, Martin Mares, Nadiah Scammell, Noam Frimer, Orla Kennedy, Rufikat Ijaiya, Sheila Parrott and Wilma Smythe.

Chris MacNeil

Chris MacNeilChris joined the Euronet as a member way back in 2002, but became active in organising events and the day-to-day running of the organisation in early 2004. Despite his numerous commitments outside of the Euronet he continues to be very dedicated to the
expat community and finds it personally rewarding to serve this
community, partly because it was good to him when he first arrived to London.
He is passionate about building Euronet into a strong brand as a "think tank" and something of a lobby group for cosmopolitan Londoners.

True to his Canadian roots, Chris firmly believes in multiculturalism and the celebration of ethnic diversity. "London has been attracting visitors for over 2,000 years. Looking at the city as today's global travel hub it's easy to see why: gastronomy, festivals, clubs, business, art and sport from nearly every culture and country imaginable. However it's also a cold and harsh place for many newcomers. Euronet members understand and genuinely care about this - that's what makes this group so successful and important in the city's social fabric."

Chris served two years on the Board of Directors of Network Canada, most recently as Vice-Chair. He is presently on the Board of the Canada-UK Chamber of Commerce.

Ryan Powell

After more than three years serving as a Board Member of Euronet
London, Ryan Powell decided to step down in late 2004 to pursue a number of new initiatives in his career and private life.

His incredibly strong commitment to making Euronet a better, bigger, more professional and more fun place to be have left a lasting impression on the organisation, its members and his fellow board members. Amongst his numerous important contributions were the completely redesigned website launched in February 2004 as well as the organisation of countless successful events.

Ryan will continue to provide advisory support to the Board from time to time, especially in the area of technology solutions. We would like to thank Ryan for his tremendous support of Euronet over the past few years and wish him and his fiancée Natalie every happiness together (see here for his personal website).

Funmi Tomisin

Special thanks to Funmi Tomisin, Co-Founder of Euronet in late 2000 as well as board member until summer 2003. Together with Ralf Teschner, Funmi kicked off the successful launch of Euronet in London, encouraged her wide circle of friends to attend events, helped to grow membership and connected Ralf with professional contacts while setting up the first Euronet London website.

Funmi’s strategic forward thinking incubated numerous ideas for the development of the organisation, many of which are still visible today. Sociable and fun-loving by nature, she organised events, managed communications and enjoyed marketing our activities and brainstorming new offerings for our members.

Euronet London remains very grateful for her immense contribution in the first three years of the organisation.
