Member Survey, October 2004
Results of the Annual Euronet London Member Survey, October
2004
We had a hunch, but now we know exactly: Euronet London members are
typically just over 30 years old, think of themselves as cosmopolitan,
work overwhelmingly in professional industries and join Euronet mostly
to meet like-minded international professionals.
These results, revealed in our annual member survey conducted in October
2004, paint a picture of engaging, dynamic and outward-looking individuals.
The Board of Euronet London is extremely pleased to have seen a total
of 112 Euronet London members participate in our first annual Euronet
London Member Survey.
Such a large number of responses allow us to gain insight into our
members’ views and to taylor our events and online offerings further
to their interests. Some survey highlights are:
- The average age of survey participants is 33 years,
our total membership represents more than 55 different nationalities.
- Half of respondents have been living in London for
between 3 and 10 years, with a further 11% living here since their
childhood. On average, they expect to stay in London for a further
2 to 5 years.
- 82% work in professional industries (financial
services, consulting, media, telecoms, legal), 13.5% for the public
sector (government agencies, NGOs, academia), 2.7% in post-graduate
studies
- Members cover all parts of Greater London, with 39% of respondents
working in Central London (of which nearly three-quarters in EC rather
than WC) but only 6% living there. Postcode area W is the most popular
neighbourhood to live in, followed by SW, E and NW.
- Just under half of our members joined Euronet more
than 1 year ago.
- They is no preference for any single type of event we
offer, the attraction rather seems to lie in a good mix of parties,
walks, dinners and debates, picnics as well as cultural events.
- Only 57% say they have found friends through Euronet,
compared to 84% who say they would like to make friends via our activities,
suggesting a need for better networking opportunities.
- Two-thirds of participants have introduced friends or colleagues
to our activities.
- 49% have read a lot of the non-event content on our website
or used some of it, particularly the Living in London advice
section and our listings of the top 25 Major London Events.
- Members see us as predominantly “friendly”
(84%), but they would like us to grow in size and spread out to other
European cities.
- They see London as a “cosmopolitan”
or “international” city (95%).
- 95% of participants consider themselves to be
a “cosmopolitan” person (74% “yes, absolutely”,
22% “a little bit”).
- Some 56% of participants want to keep Euronet London membership
free of charge.
Many thanks to the large number of members participating in this survey.
