Profile: Dil Sidhu

The first event Dil organised was for over a 1,000 people and this was at the age of just 16 while still at school! The phenomenal success of this meant that he caught the bug and continued these activities at Sussex University. Despite a very successful sales and marketing career in the telecoms sector, voluntary work involving charity fundraising was never far away, even as an ex-pat in Hong Kong.

On returning to the UK in 1997, Dil was involved in a couple of voluntary organisations while hatching plans to launch his own web based community and events organisation. After a false start before the Internet crash of 2000, a website aimed at the UK South Asian community, www.KismetUK.com was finally launched in 2003. This is going from strength to strength and now has many thousands of members.

Being fairly well travelled and having lived and worked abroad, as well as being a second generation immigrant, has meant that Dil sees himself more as an international citizen. He started attending Euronet events in 2002 and was involved with the Board in assessing the viability of a Euronet Ball in partnership with other organisations.

When the opportunity came to take over management of Euronet, Dil was very excited about the challenge which fitted in neatly with his other activities. His aim is to add real value to Euronet and its members drawing on his broad range of experience but most of all he wants to explore and highlight the virtues of cosmopolitan London while creating opportunities for us to all get-together and have some fun!
